What led you to apply to and enroll in Chatham’s MBA program?
John Wang: When I was younger, I vividly remember my father being in MBA school at the University of Pittsburgh. He made me read A LOT of leadership and management books as a child to explain the philosophies behind being a leader. Fast forward to today, I wanted to attend MBA school to create a tradition. My younger brother is planning on either going for an MBA or a graduate degree in Chemistry.
What, so far, has been your favorite part of your program experience at Chatham?
JW: [Thanks] to how close knit the university is, I adore the relationships between the staff and the student body. It is due to this strong relationship between my professors [and I] that I have been able to think critically about my future and the goals I want to achieve.
What skills and competencies have you gained in Chatham’s MBA program?
JW: Although the program revolves around business and the philosophies found in management, I believe the program has provided that extra step in teaching and formulating leadership skills that will allow any student to excel past the daily tasks that a managerial position may require.
Why might you recommend getting a Chatham MBA to a prospective student?
JW: Any university has an MBA program, however, it is critical that you find a school willing to go one step further to personalize the relationship with the students. Chatham provides a fantastic atmosphere that allows students to establish a strong relationship with the staff and faculty.
What are your post-graduate goals?
JW: Career goals:
I accepted a managerial position at Amazon starting in April. [I plan to] work there for a couple years to start my budding professional career.
After that, [I plan to] move into a senior management position at a technology or medical company.
Family-oriented career goals:
[I hope to] create a property management company. My father wants my brother and I to take over his properties soon.
[I plan to] learn Python and Spyder IDE to pursue my interests around the stock market and cryptocurrency.
