Chatham announces wrestling teams and Chatham Eastside expansion, Athletic Alley
A new era of sports at Chatham University begins with the formation of new men’s and women’s wrestling teams, as well as the development of a new hub for athletic expansion at Chatham Eastside.
Women’s wrestling, the 91st championship sport recognized by the NCAA, is another example of Chatham’s commitment to furthering leadership and athletic opportunities for women. It’s part of a slew of new athletic programming—along with men’s wrestling, women’s flag football, and competitive cheer—coming to Chatham this year.
Also coming to Chatham is Athletic Alley, which will be located on the first floor of Chatham Eastside. It will include a wrestling practice area, a weight room open to all members of the Chatham community, as well as batting cages and bullpens. Future expansion will include locker rooms and other spaces for athletes and students. Just one mile from Chatham’s historic Shadyside Campus, Chatham Eastside is down the street from Pittsburgh’s Bakery Square, the Google offices, and other exciting developments. Eastside is also home to the College of Health Sciences and its renowned physician assistant, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, sports science, and counseling psychology programs.
