New survey highlights recent Chatham graduates career success

Chatham University’s Office of Career Development has released the Destination Survey for the Class of 2021, showing that over 92% of undergraduate alumni and 98% of graduate alumni are employed in some capacity or are enrolled in continuing education within six months of graduation.

Other highlights include:

  • The average salary for full-time, employed undergraduate alumni was $49,040 and the median salary for graduate alumni was $68,500 (both up from the previous year)

  • For undergraduate alumni, 80% remained in Pennsylvania for employment or graduate school, and the remaining were spread across nine other U.S. states and two countries.

  • For graduate alumni, nearly 50% remained in Pennsylvania for employment or school, and the remaining graduates pursued opportunities across 18 other U.S. states and one country.

  • Companies or schools where recent alumni reported employment or continuing education include Amazon, Google, Evoqua, UPMC, Allegheny Health Network, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, PNC Bank, JP Morgan Chase, the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, Boston University and more.

The 2021 Destination Survey results show—that even with ongoing pandemic challenges—recent Chatham alumni were able to find employment, enroll in graduate school, and secure salaries on par or higher than previous year survey results.

Chatham’s Destination Survey is completed each year by December 31. The 2021 Destination Survey includes data for the Class of 2021 and covers alumni who graduated between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021. The data was collected through a survey distributed via email and telephone outreach. Supplemental information from LinkedIn and faculty and staff is also utilized to complete the survey.
