Chatham University begins over $5 million in campus enhancement and improvement projects

Following the end of the 21-22 academic year, Chatham University announced today that work has begun on an extensive series of Shadyside Campus enhancements and improvements. These projects represent an investment of over $5 million into the campus and student experience and will further support Chatham’s strong undergraduate enrollment growth. The projects are slated for completion by fall 2022.

The Shadyside Campus summer enhancement projects include:

  • A complete renovation and expansion of Anderson Dining Hall

  • Upgrades to wi-fi and network infrastructure to improve speed, stability, and security

  • Painting, laundry and flooring upgrades in residence hall common areas and rooms

  • New windows and HVAC replacements in several classrooms and residence halls

  • Refurbishing of two Buhl Science Center classrooms

  • IT upgrades, along with expanded and new seating, in several campus classrooms

  • Repaving of the JKM Library parking lot

  • Landscaping and walkways along Chapel Hill Road

“With our enrollment growing from under 600 to around 1,200 undergraduates over the past decade, these Shadyside Campus projects are critical to supporting and enhancing the student and academic experience on campus,” said Walt Fowler, SVP of Finance and Administration. “Ultimately, we have tried to prioritize the projects that we heard students and faculty were most interested in and that they felt would make the biggest difference to the Chatham community.”
