On-Campus Resources to Help You Study, Work, and Have Fun at Chatham

Even at a small university, there are times where it’s hard to know where to turn. Who do you go to for feedback on a resumé? Where can you exercise at the end of a long day? How do you get your grades back on track after a tough exam?

This page seeks to answer those questions and more. Below are several resources to help students find the best places for study help, career prep, and extracurricular fun.

Studies and academics

The Office of Academic and Accessibility Resources

What is it: OAAR, located on the third floor of the Jennie King Mellon Library, helps students improve their study skills and overcome challenges in the classroom.

What they offer:

  • In-person and online tutoring

  • Academic accommodations for students with disabilities

  • Writing help

  • Supplemental instruction

What is it: Chatham’s on-campus library houses books, films and TV shows, and more materials for students to borrow.

The Academic Success Division

What is it: Four offices share resources to help students succeed in their academic and professional pursuits. The division is comprised of OAAR, the Office of Career Development, the Academic Advising Center, and the Office of Global Engagement.

What they offer:

  • Dedicated academic advising staff for first- and second-year students

  • A one-stop shop for questions about help in class, internships, and on-campus jobs

  • The Office of Global Engagement helps international students at Chatham, as well as American students hoping to study abroad

The Office of Career Development

What is it: The Office of Career Development helps prepare students for their professional futures.

What they offer:

  • Help finding on-campus employment

  • Assistance in searching and applying for internships

  • First job and career advancement guidance

  • Career preparation workshops and more

Play and downtime

The Athletic and Fitness Center

What is it: The AFC is where Chatham students go to exercise, practice, and play sports together.

What it offers:

  • Free yoga classes

  • An indoor pool

  • A sauna

  • Intramural sports

  • Treadmills, bikes, and free weights

Student Organizations

What are they: These are groups and clubs run by the students of Chatham University.

What they offer:

  • Honors societies for certain majors and study areas

  • Groups for students with shared ethnicities, races, and religions

  • Volunteer, social justice, and political organizations

  • Clubs for chess, board games, and other hobbies

  • Resources to start your own student organization
