Who's Who Around ChathamU, Part 1

It takes a lot of “people power” to keep a university running smoothly—even a small community like ChathamU. And one of the best things about that small-school feel is knowing you can walk into an office (or send an email) and talk to a real person whose job is to help you! If you’re new around here (or just need a refresher), we’ve rounded up some of the departments and offices around campus that help keep things humming. Check back later this week for Part Two.

Jennie King Mellon Library

Location: The JKM Library building, of course!
Known For: Books galore + helpful staff

What can we say about the JKM Library? It’s a study spot, a social hub, and the first place you should head when you’ve got a paper due. Their blog is super informative, and their Instagram account @jkmlibrary is a treat, featuring recommendations, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and tips for making every trip to the library as productive as possible. And don’t forget the Chatham University Archives and Special Collections—we have 150+ years of history at Chatham, making our Archives an invaluable resource for projects… or for anyone who wants to see photos and artifacts from days gone by!

Office of Student Accounts & Office of Financial Aid

Location: Braun Hall, First Floor
Known For: Financial Aid savvy

The Office of Students Accounts oversees the billing and collection of tuition, room, board, and other University-related charges. The Office of Financial Aid offers assistance with need-based aid, processing and receiving federal, state, and private grants and loans, and counsels students on financing options. The wide world of “paying for school” can be confusing, so don’t be a stranger! Get to know these offices and ask plenty of questions; they’re here to provide answers for you.

Information Technology Services

Location: Woodland Hall
Known for: Helping when you forget your password

From managing network resources like wifi, MyChatham, Brightspace, and more to providing info and equipment at the HelpDesk, IT (Information Technology) is here to help with tech questions both big and small. Make sure to check your emails to stay updated about HelpDesk hours for all our locations.

From a recent Career Development Internship Mixer

Career Development

Location: JKM Library, Basement
Known for: Resume rehab + mentorship matchmaking

Career Development is the hyper-helpful career coaching center of your dreams! Whether you’re a student or alum, undergrad or grad, have a dream job in mind or no idea where to begin, Career Development can help at every stage of your journey—from resume and interview help to networking tips. They also oversee Student Employment on campus, and our Welcome Aboard Mentorship program, where students can shadow a mentor in their chosen field. Get to know them in person, or follow their social media to stay in touch virtually!

Look out for Part Two of this series later in the week. And if you’re wondering who runs Pulse@ChathamU, that’s us, the Office of Marketing and Communications! We provide in-house marketing and communication services to the university, run ChathamU’s social media, and maintain the brand of ChathamU. Feel free to reach out to us with any and all questions at communications@chatham.edu.
