Chatham University opens a new healthcare-focused residence hall at UPMC Shadyside

Chatham University has opened Centre Avenue Suites, a Healthcare Living and Learning Community (LLC) at UPMC Shadyside, as a new housing option for graduate and undergraduate students in Chatham’s College of Health Sciences.

Formerly a location for UPMC’s Family House, this residential apartment complex at 5425 Centre Avenue offers a convenient location to UPMC Shadyside Hospital for clinical rotations and work. It is near Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) routes and many healthcare, grocery, dining, and retail locations. Single or double-occupancy options are available in the building, which includes six floors and more than 40 one-bedroom suites with basic furnishings. It also features a spacious community kitchen, dining area, laundry room, common lounges, a small fitness room, and study spaces.

Chatham Living Learning Communities (LLCs) are a unique housing option that allows students to continue learning outside of the classroom in special topic areas through programming, daily interactions with other residents, and connections with faculty, staff, and community resources. Students selected to reside in an LLC are required to help develop and participate in LLC programming and be an integral part of the community.  Chatham currently offers LLCs focused on healthcare, the Academic Honors program, and women’s leadership.
