Chatham Alumna Selected as Fulbright Finalist
A recent Chatham University graduate was selected as a finalist for the Fulbright Program, the flagship international education exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government.
As part of the Fullbright Program, Natalie Callahan ’23, a graduate of the arts management program, will travel to Varanasi, India, to document the Banarasi weaving process.
The nine-month grant begins in August 2024. Callahan plans to create graphite drawings and other sketches to illustrate the physical labor, aesthetic beauty, and history associated with the weaving style. She will be hosted by Banaras Hindu University’s Faculty of Visual Arts.
Callahan will be one of more than 2,000 students who pursue education abroad each year via the Fulbright Program, which has provided grants to students, scholars, teachers, and others since 1946. Grant recipients are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement and demonstrated leadership potential in their fields. The Fulbright Program is a program of the U.S. Department of State. More information is available at https://us.fulbrightonline.org/.
