Chatham Receives Grant in Support of Study Abroad

Chatham University has been selected by the Institute of International Education (IIE) to receive an IIE American Passport Project grant that will enable 25 Chatham students to obtain a U.S. passport and support their study abroad journeys. In this inaugural year of the initiative, IIE announced 40 selected institutions that will aid U.S. students to procure passports and to provide study abroad guidance.

Chatham is committed to promoting, facilitating, and increasing participation in international and intercultural experiences for all students through study abroad. This grant will assist students historically underrepresented in study abroad, including students with demonstrated financial need, racial and ethnic minorities, and students who have never traveled abroad. To support its nominated students, Chatham will create a cohort-based member group, Cougars Going Abroad (CGA). Through CGA, Chatham will help the students with the passport application process, provide study abroad information and scholarship advising, and support them as they return to campus after their international experiences, thus inspiring other students to pursue study abroad.
